Vocational
Evaluation/Testing
The
process of vocational evaluation involves a
comprehensive interview, review of available
medical and or psychological records, and
interpretation of vocational testing scores.
Worker interest is certainly
an important factor, yet it is also important
to consider factors such as work values and
environment, aptitude, and personality.
The most successful return-to-work
efforts build on client motivation, generated
through careful evaluation and counseling.

A combination of three inter-related assessments
(interest, work value and aptitude) will
generate key occupations for further evaluation.
These results are cross-referenced in graphic
format within 14 occupational clusters, and the
occupations identified can then be evaluated in
terms of transferable skills and the need for
further training. The personality factor is then overlaid
to assure that the worker understands and can
work with those traits they bring to the work
environment. The key to understanding
personality type is in self-management. It is a
proven fact that job satisfaction is a primary
factor in long-term job success.
